A Broken Family directed by Brooke Lemke

This short film directed by Brooke Lemke asks the question: When you walk down the aisle, do you really leave your family behind? The short starts out with shot of an eyes which I thought was great. It looks like wedding is taking place. The music for the bride starts to play and there is no bride walking down the aisle. Matt the groom to be is waiting looking worry. I would be to if I had to wait for the bride wearing a tuxedo that may be uncomfortable. I would have personally look for the bride and drag her down the ceremony. I didn't wore this suit for nothing. That is just what I would do personally, but it not me. The bride sister Ashley goes to look for the bride since nobody else decides to look for her. She runs into Brandon (Matt Franta), her boyfriend who seems like a jerk. She asks him to help look for Michelle (Stephanie Nelson). He reluctantly agrees.

When this all say and done, the bride is found crying in a room. Before I mention anything else, I feel the character Michelle wasn't really believable when she was crying that is really my negative criticism that have with this short film. I really don't want to give too much away so I am going to leave it as that. It is a short film so there isn't a whole lot I can say about the movie without giving too much away. I will recommend you to watch this film. Three and a half stars.

Final Thoughts.

I will say this is not what I expected from Brooke Lemke since most of her work is in genre of horror. I will guess don't pigeonhole somebody before you fully know what they are about. I know I can't wait until she directs  a feature length film to see what else she can do behind the camera.

Young Eyes directed by Brooke Lemke

This a short film written by Heather Beck and directed by Brooke Lemke. This will be the second film of hers that I am reviewing. this short film feature a kid and a teenager. This short film asks the question: What happens when kids are burdened with being beautiful? I am loving the message Brooke Lemke's films been saying. I feel they do need to be addressed. We live in a society that is hung up on what beauty is. How society makes women who is already hwp be more thinner than they already are. It makes me sick to my stomach that women are pressure to try to look like the women on T.V and in magazines. It makes every girl feel more self conscience about their bodies when they see rail thin women on the cover of fashion magazines. i know I am getting off the subject of reviewing the film, but this what the film brings up in your mind when watching it. I will make you see what society is doing to perfectly normal girls who is trying to look sickly like Kate Moss or any other rail thin models and celebrities.

The kids in this film are believable as playing their ages. i like the fact that the little actresses are actually playing their ages which bring reality to the screen. I don't really have more else to say about the film. It left me upset. Four out of fours stars.
